Hey everyone,
We’re trying to connect our 3D Rhino model directly to our 2D drawings and views. The goal is to set up a system that automatically generates accurate 2D documentation with correct hatches included automatically.
We’ve hit a snag with the hatch patterns in sections and plans.
Our goal right now is to orient the Hatch / SectionStyle pattern in 3d space (relative to the object), so that it looks correct from any angle. E.g.: displaying insulation hatches on slanted roof elements (screenshot), that are visible in 2 or more sections that are not parallel.
This is not possible with the current settings, because object Section Styles or Hatches only have a single “Pattern rotation” attribute (for rotation in 2d space, around screen/view normal?).
Important Note on Setup: We absolutely DO NOT want to use VisualARQ for this. We’re using our own internal set of tools and scripts, and installing VisualARQ would unfortunately overwrite or conflict with our custom environment.
We need a solution that works alongside standard Rhino features, preferably a feature that could possibly be introduced in a future update of rhino.
