How to close a tubular surface with non-planar ends?

A basic I still haven’t learned. Lofted 2 mirrored curves that occupy xyz space. Is Patch the only way to close/make solid? I can patch and join but still open poly surf.

Hello- where does the 3d bend in the input curves come from? is there a surface that these come from? I’d try to make cleaner curves, for one thing; I understand that does not answer your question yet.

Without more info, patch would seem to me a reasonable candidate in this case but object is pretty messy - lots of little surfaces - with cleaner inputs it would work out better’’

This works. Will go back and simplify the extruded “plugs”.

This is my current solution.

OK - with that context it is clearer what to do - Split the outer rounded surface with the extrusion and then use the split piece to cap the end once you have trimmed the extrusion.
BooleanSplit can do it all for you too.
