How to assign an existing macro to an existing toolbar button?

Rhinoceros Help - Using toolbars and buttons | Rhino 3-D modeling (mcneel.com) states:

Edit a button

  1. Press and hold Shift.
  2. Right-click the button to open Button Editor.
  3. Click the button image to open Macro Library.
  4. Click the Edit button.

But #3, clicking either the light mode or dark mode image, opens the Edit Image window.

For example, how do I assign an existing macro to the right mouse button of this existing toolbar button?:

Thank you

Just paste or type it in in the box under right command…

If you are looking for a way to post-edit a button and access the macro library via the button editor - you can’t… This is a glaring shortcoming which I have posted about several times.

Yes, I am trying to avoid creating orphan macros.

In V7, existing macros can be assigned to buttons as so in
Tools - Toolbar layout… - Tools - Workspace Editor… Groups tab
AssignExistingMacro

I didn’t find an open YouTrack issue for this.

For this I can only suggest to delete the original button and create a new one from scratch via the wizard which does allow you to choose macros from the library for both left and right buttons.
