Custom toolbar button - Copy image from another tool?

When creating custom toolbar buttons it brings up the fun little bitmap editor - as skillful as I am at creating mini pixel masterpieces, how would one copy the existing artwork from another button?

Edit: in case it wasnt clear enough I was being sarcastic about creating mini masterpieces… halp!

You can copy one button from one toolbar to another and then edit it there. Does that work?

Great idea! But the button I’ve created is for a custom command.

This is the SVG editor screen that I would love to load an existing tool image into (unless there is a better way):

I would not advise doing that currently. What you can do is open the editor with button you want to copy (Shift+Right click on the button), click on the image to open the image editor, and from the File menu, export the .svg (the menu no longer says Export, it says SaveAs). Then you can import the svg you just saved when you create a new button.

Note I have not tried this in the current svg editor, only in the previous one. But I think it should work. Not copying buttons will help avoid messing up your macro library (until they fix how it works).

This is the answer, thank you so much.

As a side note the Rhino SVG editor brought me right back to my very early days as a digital designer on what was at the time a very powerful professional platform:

So sorry, when I read “pixel” I just assumed you were on Rhino 7… Thanks for saving the day Mitch! Rhino 8 is still glitchy when it comes to duplicating buttons.

Well, TBH it was not a good idea even in Rhino 7. My V7 custom workspace is full of side effects of having extensively copied buttons to use the image and then replaced or modified the commands, tooltips, etc. Some of those buttons still buggily remember parts of their original macros, notably the tooltips which randomly change back to the original, but in some other language like German, Czech or even Chinese…

Yes I have seen that here too, often on RMB tools that have no commands. The tooltip often shos macro macro macro etc even if I delete it, save the toolbar and restart Rhino. Strange stuff.

However, saving the Rhino SVG does not always work in Rh8.
