How To Access The Hide Feature Without a Mouse

I have seen people access a popup tool bar using the middle click on a mouse which includes a hide tool. How would I access that same pop up tool bar without a mouse.

P.S. people recommended I tap the spacebar, however that is not working for me on the Mac.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it is command+fn+space on Mac
