How do I make an object outline the same color as the layer color?

How do I make an object outline the same color as the layer color? A search brings up info saying to change the setting called “object color source” but I can’t find that anywhere?

if everything is default- this should do it unless you have it overridden in your display mode settings.

My outlines are still a different color.

they actually are the same color, you are seeing the difference in the lighting effect. if you change to no lighting and make the ambient color white, you see this effect more clearly-

edges do not get shadowed or lit in shaded mode-

see this image, note the edge when next to a lit surface matches, but appears lighter when the surface is in shadow (lower arrow)

without this the edges would simply disappear.

you can do this in the shaded mode, you simply have to turn their display off.

they are still there and you can select them, but they are hidden from the display. IMO this is a tough way to work, but you do you…

Thanks again Kyle.
