How can I select edge or curve

Hi everyone
I was able to select an invisible edge or curve in shadow mode in rhino 5
Can’t I use this feature on rhinos 7?

Thank you

This behaviour is deprecated in Rhino V7 and v8.
In general what you don’t see you don’t select. This is really usefull when it comes to handle large meshes. On simple geometries like this is a bit annoyng but this is it.

To achive the same results you better to use the Gosthed view style.

you could set your shaded transparency to something very weak like 2 percent, it will barely distract you but you will be able to select all the edges.

also there is a setting under modelling aids for snapping to occluded objects. hovering then over edges where you know one should be will then highlight the edge either.

It’s works very well
thank you

on the other side i tried now with this 2% setting for a while and must say its not a good idea, it will start distracting when you try to hit actual faces suddenly selecting faces in the back… implementing an option for the former function to select hidden edges may be better? @Gijs any thoughts?

My thoughts on this are that we should keep it as it is, because that allows a user to either select only visible items or select through based on the display mode. In the majority of cases I don’t want to select non visible items. And if I do, I switch to ghosted or wireframe, so that they become visible first.

YES! this way is easyer to understand for beginners.
Pro could always customize everything and know how to do it

on the other side for simple models where you quickly try to set something up selecting edges without having to alternate through modes constantly might not be a bad idea.

there might have been a reason for it to exist before, changing such details obviously gives somebody hick ups, so much for general decision though.
