Hi everyone, I need some help with printing technical drawings.
I’ve set up a custom display mode to show only the outlines of the parts and the hidden lines. I don’t want tangent edges. Everything looks correct in the Rhino layout, but when I generate a PDF or print it, all the lines show up, making the drawing very confusing.
I’ve attached both the file and the SystemInfo you asked for. As an alternative solution to the issue, I tried changing the print configuration from vector to raster. That partially solved the problem, but created another one: the hidden lines no longer look correct, and when I try to print, the printer only prints half of the drawing.
I thought it might be related to the final file size, so I reduced the resolution to 150dpi, which allowed the print to go through. However, I’m not sure this is the best solution. I’ve also attached the resulting PDF for your reference.
I attached the display mode I was using—it’s one I configured some time ago. But I also tried other display modes, and the same issue occurred.
By the way, I’ve always found working on technical drawings in Rhino to be quite unproductive. One possible solution would be using the Make2D command, but I try to avoid it because I often need to update the model.
Unfortunately, the history feature in drafting doesn’t work well for me either, since I place the dimensions directly in the layout rather than in the model. And for leaders, it doesn’t work at all.
