Help Modeling These Historic ArchDetails

Greetings folks,

I’m having some trouble trying to figure how to model these elements for a historic preservation render.

Would someone tips to the commands to utilize in modeling these elements?

I’m not sure where to start, however I feel like pipe/project to surface/intercrvonsurface….could someone point me in the right direction?

Hi Denzel - here is my quick and dirty made-up version - if that is approximately what you want and the steps (most likely) are not clear, I’ll outline them later in the day.

Yes! That’s it right there. Please do post those steps

Hi Denzel - ok, it might be tomorrow though.

Sure thing. I am on standby my friend.

@Denzel_Hill see if this works-

Spirally_Steps.3dm (1.0 MB)

There are variations on the same basic idea but this may get you started.

I was working through it when I became stumped on flow along srf.

How do I set up the base surface so that my lines flow beyond the seam on the target surface?

Hi Denzel - see on mine how the diagonals start and end on the same ‘level’? This ensures that they will cross the seam cleanly-

Is that what you meant?

YES, that makes a lot of sense. Thank you. I will check back in with further progress.

My friend, I am sooooo close. For some reason, trim isnt giving me any results. I tried trimming in your help file as well with no luck.
Rhino help trim

Hi Denzel - post what you have.

can you see the image above? Thats as far as i get. from there, trying to trim is failing

Hi Denzel - I can’t help without a Rhino file. If that is confidential, please send to tech@mcneel.com to my attention and with a link back to this topic in your comments.
