I’m unable to delete a grasshopper component by click the “del” key.
This happened before, but I’m not sure what causes this issue.
May I ask if anyone encountered similar problem before, and what’s the solution?
Thanks.

Idk why this is still an issue in Rhino after all these years - the grasshopper window loses focus and all commands go to the Rhino command line. See here:
Keystrokes in GH end up in Rhino command line - Grasshopper - McNeel Forum
Have the same -delete glitch. But I just found a pattern, which solves the problem for me. (Windows7 x64 Rhino 4)
- Click - Show desktop button on taskbar (Rhino and Grasshopper window minimizes)
- Click one more time - Show desktop button (Rhino window restores, but Grasshopper window is not)
- Just double click Grasshopper window to maximize it, and the problem disappears.

Thanks, @ftzuk
I’m surprised, too, that this “historical” issue hasn’t been fixed after so many years…
Most likely because it difficult to reproduce on demand
@Gijs , here it is, on film!
It happens quite often and it is very annoying.
Delete, and Ctrl+C,Ctrl-V don’t work on the Grasshopper canvas, but in Rhino.
So you see, in the recording, when I select the component and press delete key, instead of deleting the component, Rhino gets Delete in the Command prompt.
@Bogdan_Chipara I’ve run into this myself many times, but since this cannot be reproduced on demand, it’s going to be really hard to fix.
Be really nice if it could be fixed. Been around for 15+ years already.
Delete button not answering on GH but only on Rhino - Grasshopper
Hi Gijs,
You might be in luck - I’ve been playing around with a MP3 player written in GH Python
The version on the package manage when installed causes this issue when playing songs with GH open.
Might give you something to test with?
On another note, the trick of show desktop then bringing up the rhino and gh windows works, but stops my MP3 player…
Cheers,
DK
Another UI anomaly that’s been around for years (and been bothering me a lot lately) is related to scrolling text panels. It often happens that selection of GH components and dragging the canvas become completely disabled until I nudge the scroll bar on the last text panel I touched.
This happens many times per day. It’s extremely annoying because it’s very old.
Windows 11 now but again, it’s been a known issue for a long time. I usually use R7 and don’t remember if I’ve seen it in R8 as well. Will edit this post if I see it in R8.
