Can you follow these steps:

The path of MapWinGIS entered in Gismo is invalid

Great! Something went wrong with the first installation of MapWinGIS. I am not sure what happened there. If you have an issue next time, try: unblocking the downloaded MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.6.1-x64.exe installation file right clicking on it and choose: ‘Run as Administrator’. Then just ‘Next’. ‘Next’ until the installation is complete. I am glad it works now.

You also need to unblock the MapWinGIS.exe installation file, before running it.
Also, it may sound obvious, but Gismo does not work on Mac, only on Windows Rhino version.
