Floor plans with Rhino 3D

I am creating a workflow to make residential floor plans with Rhino.
What are some recommendations to gather and input the dimensions.

Thank you

Hi Jose -

Is there anything specific that you are having problems with?

Hi Wim
I am new to Rhino and I am hoping that there is a plugin and a device that streamlines the process of measuring a site so that I can then transfer that information to make a a floor plan.

I know there are Matterport and Jifaffe Scanners which create a 3D model and/or drawings that I can access at their website for a price.

I am trying not to use pencil, paper and measure tape; but a device that transfers the info to Rhino after I scan the dimensions.

It will be the equivalent to Lands Design

but for interiors.

I am in exploratory phase of my next business plan…

Thank for reading

Hi Jose -
I’m not aware of any Rhino integration for a specific 3D scanning device.
Rhino can import point clouds from a few formats and those can be used to reverse engineer geometry.

How easy or hard that is depends both on the input and required output.

There are numerous threads on the subject, so you could read a few of those to learn more.
Here’s one of those: Reverse engineering in Rhino (without external plugins)

The Leica Disto range of laser measures has a variety of apps and software for capturing and transferring measurements.

At the top of the range, the Leica 3D Disto and associated Windows software can create a 3D as built drawing (allegedly to 1mm accuracy) that can be exported in .DXF and .DWG formats, which can be opened by or imported into Rhino.
