First attempt to use Ribbon and I get an error. Why?

So In a recent thread someone mentioned the “ribbon” command. Sounded like something I could have used in much of my work. First try. I get an error. What am I missing, or what should I know when using this command?

Thank you for your report, I’m seeing this as well. I have logged this issue to our development engineers.

RH-89031 Ribbon: makes bad geometry

Well that’s interesting. I automatically assume I’m doing something wrong.

Some years ago, my brother who worked in Solidworks, suggested I give it a try. My first simple object would not filet. (my modeling nemesis) I sent the file to him and he had the same problem. He then sent it on to their company’s support at Dassault, and it turns out I’d discovered a bug. Over two days and many tutorial videos, I tried everything I could imagine. I remodeling from scratch multiple times trying every imaginable approach and process to create this simple part. All to no avail. Only to then learn that it was not my fault and nothing I did would make it work. I never tried Solidworks again after that. Mind you, modeling the part in the then free Sketchup was a 5 minute job.

RH-89031 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 24
