Hi there, I am experiencing an issue all of a sudden where I am not able to open some of my files. I asked my colleague to open the same files on her laptop and it works with no issues so Its only my laptop. I deleted temp files, reinstalled Rhino and still they are not opening. Can you help please? I am not able to work because of this
Hi Sonia -
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo
command and copy-paste the output here.
Do you have any idea about what is different with those files compared to those that still open?
-wim
Hi Wim. Here it is:

I don’t think there is anything different with those files. I mean they are bigger in size than the others but not that much bigger. Its very strange. I was able to work on them all yesterday
I Sonia -
What happens when you start a new project and then import one of those files that refuse to open? Does that work?
-wim
Yea i tried that and it still freezes and does not respond. Could it be a setting or something causing this? My colleagues are able to open these files with no problem. We have tried exporting them in different ways and still any way I try to open it, it does not respond. I am able to import the floor plans that were exported by my colleague but it seems there is something about the model that does not want to open on my computer
I take it that you have waited a longer while to see if it opens eventually?
Is there any message on the command line when this happens?
When Rhino doesn’t respond, please create a manual dump file and send that to us. You can find the instructions for doing so here: Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]
-wim
So the only thing it says is “Loading Legacy Rhino Render, version 1.50…” nothing else there. Yes I have waited a longer time and it is just stuck in Not Responding. I have sent in the Dump file via the process you sent me.
Does switching to the Rhino Render
from the Render
menu → Current Renderer
before opening the file make a difference?
Since this issue started all of a sudden on your machine, it’s possible that a Windows update messed with the GPU drivers. Those are getting somewhat too old anyway, so I would update those and pick the “clean install” option when installing them.
-wim
I am not sure how to do this. Do you have a guide you could send me to follow? How do I clean install the GPU drivers?
Hi Sonia -
From Rhino, open the Notifications
panel and follow a chain of links to an NVIDIA site where you can download the drivers for your GPU.
An exhaustive explanation of how to do a clean install for the drivers can be found here:

Hi Sonia -
Did you get this sorted?
