I wish for an option that, when enabled, will cause clicks to have no effect unless they match a snap or go to the nearest snap.
Settings (preferences} > Modeling aids, shows the “Snap Radius” is 15 pixels.
This means if you have an object snap in effect, and your mouse pointer is within 15 pixels of one of those points, the tooltip shows you what was found. You can click or not.
My guess is if you perhaps increased the snap radius a bit, and were more deliberate about your picking, you wopuld have better results and fewer or no bad picks.
I fear your suggestion would have way more unintended consequences than it helped.
Here’s what I don’t want: Let’s say disable all snaps except say end. Doing an interpreted spline clicking on the ends of 20 lines. Then finding that one of the 20 points is not at the end of a line.
I forgot, I was complaining about this to someone on the phone and was told that Turbocad does this. Maybe some others.
I could definitely support this. Perhaps just an additional checkbox in the osnap panel “RequireSnap” or something like that.
