Feature Request: Relative Paths for Linked Blocks

I’ve seen this stated several places, and that is a desire for relative paths for linked blocks. This is especially important for sharing projects across computers and syncing files. Example, my company insists on using SharePoint, which shared drives and folders inside the user folder, make the path for a file different depending on the person and the computer. I can’t make quality files with linked blocks because the links fall apart the moment someone else uses the file. Instead I am left to internalizing blocks, which makes keeping them up to date cumbersome. Relative paths would also help with sharing projects with clients.

Some questions that would be nice to have answers for
Is this feature doable for R9?
if not R9, R10?
If it can’t be planned/worked on, what is the technical reason?
If I as a Rhino user and client found this feature sufficiently important as to being willing to commission it’s creation and integration into R8 or R9, ball park order of magnitude range what would that cost? 10k, 100k, 1,000k?
Is there a ticket we can track the feature against that isn’t about work sessions?

We have used Rhino since 2005, slowly discarding all other CAD options and post-processing apps. The lack of relative paths was at the start, and still is now, one of the biggest bugbears, and I am sure is a simple code fix. It changes how we structure our work, very much to its detriment. Please fix this.

Relative paths can be set up through Grasshopper.

That’s great for other computational designers but isn’t a feasible solution when working with drafters/modelers.

Hello, have you tried looking for a plugin that adds that functionality?
Failing that, seeing your willingness to pay, have you considered hiring someone to develop such a plugin?
