Experiments in Rhino into Photoshop

Actually, according to this post it is.

If you need, in my opinion an antiquated format, like eps, (do they still make PostScript printers?) just export your AI to eps. I have asked that they update the AI output to a modern AI format and not use eps.

Have you tried going from AI to PS with the rhino file exported as AI ? Why PS anyway if you want to use cmyk? PS is an image & monitor based application, while Illustrator is a print application. Take a pantone colour and see what it looks like when RGB in PS and CMYK in AI, they don’t always look the same.

The issue of size depends on which side, or centre, of the curve AI puts the stroke. I am not sure I would expect raster to be as precise as vector, especially a crude image format like jpeg. What is the dpi of your PS work, that will make a difference when converting from different formats. I export an 8 ½ x 11 page in Rhino, open in illustrator and then export to PS and save as png . Open it and my image is like 11 x 20 inches. Photoshop doesn’t work with print scale, that is not it’s forté.

If you need exact measurements like you are trying to show, don’t use PS. It is like trying to slice bread with a butter knife.
