Environment maps don't match between Rendered viewport and Render output

Hello,
Experiencing an issue where the altitude in the Environment maps in the Rendered viewport and Render output are not aligned. See attached highlighted images, you can see the mountains outside the windows are not aligned in Altitude.

Basically I’ve been fudging the altitude here and there and doing a Render preview to check for alignment before sending it to Final Render.

Thanks in advance.

Rhino 7 (7.9.21222.15002, 2021-08-10)

2.4GHz 8‑core Intel Core i9
AMD Radeon 5600m 8 GB
64 GB RAM
2 TB SSD
Big Sur 11.4

Right, altitude changes between Rendered mode and Rhino Render are still a bit undefined, since the rendering approaches are so different. Rhino Render is the same as what you get in Raytraced.

This was logged as RH-62381 Environment altitude incorrectly used in Raytraced.

I’ve added this topic to the YT issue for further tracking.

In the meantime I suggest you use a plane with texture on it to get the exact same orientation in both rendering methods.

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for the quick response and noted your comments for my workflow. I’ve been experiencing a lot of visual performance issues that Pascal has been trying to help with and wondering if it’s attributed to the AMD Radeon 5600m video card.
Thanks!
Warren

does the same issue apply to Environment orientation between rendered view and raytraced output ?

this is the render preview

and this is the raytraced output, totally different orientation of the environment map in Rhino 8

Quick test here shows the orientation being just fine:

Perhaps share a file. Just the environment in otherwise empty model should be fine, as long as it shows the problem.

Thanks @nathanletwory,
I tried again with a new file, seems the environment .renv was corrupted in the original.

Orientation working now, and the height difference appears to be ok.
Thanks,
Pat
