I wanted to report a bug in Rhino 8. When opening some specific DXF files, there are some entities missing from some CAD blocks. When opening the same file in Rhino 7, the same block contains curves that are not visible or do not exist in the Rhino 8 session.
This might be related to changes in the block manager, I’m still investigating the possible reasons for this.
Context: The files were generated using the ExactFlat plug-in for SolidWorks, I’m just using Rhino to view and edit some of the CAD blocks.
I recently reported a number of items that import fine in V7 and earlier that were being skipped in V8 when importing a .dwg (they weren’t necessarily blocks). That is supposed to be fixed for V8.8… Maybe the same issue.
Hi, I have checked it and it looks like a different problem.
The one fixed in 8.8 was skipping the objects, with these files it is not reading them.
I am going to report it to the developers.
Hi @gszechter@Helvetosaur this problem is fixed on the new Service Release candidate Rhino 8.8
Go to Options > Updates and Statistics > Change Update Frequency to “Service Release Candidate” and click Check Now to download it.
Let me know if it works as expected.
