…while it opens flawlessly in CloudCompare.
V6 SR 15 here.
Never mind.
Just another bug.
Hi @osuire,
Rhino’s E57 importer does read point cloud colors. It doesn’t, however, read intensity values as our point cloud structure doesn’t support intensity.
Feel free to post your file if you think there is an issue/bug.

A post was split to a new topic: Reading point cloud files
Hi All,
Super late to the party, but this one was plaguing me for about 2 years too. I’ve been putting up with black e57’s and just making do.
If you open a point cloud in cloud compare and go Edit / Colors / From Scalar Fields - You can convert to a RGB format and get your colors showing up in rhino. Simple fix and makes it so much easier to work with point clouds again.
Thanks @dale wouldn’t have worked it out without your comment.
Hmmm… Couldn’t this be baked in the importer ?
I’d hate to interrupt anyone’s nap, but point clouds and photogrammetry are abuzz, and I feel that Rhino should have a rock solid .E57 import to deserve it’s Swiss knife reputation.
