Try renaming the file extension to “3dm”.
Any luck?

John is right. Renaming the file extension to 3dm will do it.
I’ll make sure to support 3dmbak extension in the next release

Please be aware that the 3DMBAK version of the Rhino file is NOT the most current.

When the last editing session in Rhino was saved, those new changes were saved into the 3DM file, and the file version prior to those last edits was saved as the 3DMBAK file.
