Display Resolution Viewport and Emap

Hello,
I’m at my wits’ end because the objects I build are cleanly constructed, but are shown as square in the normal display window (see pictures). Even when I try to view the surface with the Emap command, the surface is divided into boxes. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Many thanks in advance.
