Display Mode Technical with lines dashed

Hi Tom -

Vector output has been on the list for a while now - RH-11615 Technical and pen mode - I’ve added your request for it.

I would really appreciate it. It would make generating nice PDF much easier.

@brian
Like it a lot, thanks.
I tested it in the WIP today
One question: in the screenshot below the hidden lines are displayed as dots.
Is there any chance to make them dashed like in a technical drawing?

The “technical” mode used to be very unaccessable, except through some plugins. Over time it’s showing more signs of becoming a big part of Rhino.

Hence,

But yes, there’s still some bugs. Like the parallel line shading also seems to be buggy; the bitmap background will bleed into certain render/print scenarios.

Despite all this, the problem you seem to be having, I’m pretty sure I’ve found work arounds, cause I print dashed lines from time to time.

Pretty sure you should get better results already. I’m surprised no one demonstrated this here yet? Is there another thread on this somewhere?

If you upload me a sample file, I’ll try to demonstrate.

I suppose I can make one, but might be better if it’s the same file…

Wait a second, oh yeah I know what you mean! Yeah what’s up with the dotten/dashed lines :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

tf  :thought_balloon: Yeah I guess I forgot about that problem lol :sob:
yeah that’s bs  :beers: someone fix it please  :beers: :beers:

I can’t remember if Penguin had a solution for that in V5  :thought_balloon:

Hi Tobias -

What is that a screenshot of? The Rhino viewport or the resulting PDF?

In Rhino 8.0, it is unlikely there will be a wysiwyg relation between what you see in the Rhino viewport and the resulting PDF. You can influence what you see in the resulting PDF by modifying the “Hidden” linetype in your Rhino document.

Hi @wim,

the screenshot is from the resulting pdf.

Okay, I will give it a try. In my eyes it would be super cool to have the wysiwyg-relation. It would help me a lot to create useable drawings and documents for clients.
