Howdy, This may just be hitting the wall of graphics performance, but my system is pretty decent and I’m surprised how much the image quality drops during any dynamic view manipulation (pan, orbit). Most noticeable in rendered or arctic modes. Same with every device (mouse, Wacom, 3dConnexion). Cou…

Yeah, that’s by design. As your scene gets more complicated, having Rhino display full resolution during orbit can get very slow.

So it’s a ‘feature’ !!? I’m flabbergasted. Isn’t there maybe at least a way to have this ‘choke’ only cut in when the model is too heavy? Or let the user select a performance target rather than just apply a global limit? I would prefer the option to reduce the frame-rate… Rhino is the only progra…

Check this out, you may want to adjust these advanced settings to avoid degradation on view change: [image] What are these Advanced Options for SkylightShadows? Rhino for Windows [Capture] ???

[image] What are these Advanced Options for SkylightShadows? If you’d like to render at full resolution during viewport manipulation, just change SkylightShadowResolutionScaleDynamic to 1. Thank you! Hmm, this looks like it’s worth a shot. How do I access that dialogue? (I’ll sign the waiver …

Just go to Tools - Options - Advanced tab and can search for these values. Sorry not at my desk now to elaborate but hope you can find it - it should do the trick for you.

Thanks, I’ll go take a look… C

If i remember correctly you need to set both to 1 to have no shadow degradation.

Yes! This works (mostly lol) [Untitled-1] It makes the image about 90% better, so I wonder what other tweaks might get us to 100%? I’m happy though… C  (I’m thinking any AA settings might also apply… gonna have a root around,

Maybe you try cranking up the AO shadows slider in your display mode… but typically beyond a point it just slows things down without a visible improvement. Over here the AdvancedOptions trick makes it work 100%

Hmm… I don’t see any sliders in my display mode settings. I must be looking in the wrong place…
