Dimension point placement

This one’s been bugging me for a while: why does the Dimension control point (I mean the one for the limit line) NOT lie at the end of the line itself, but rather is offset from the end of the line? Wouldn’t it be more intuitive to have it at the very end of the line? That one always bugs me because I always have to overshoot the placement of the first point in order to get the line to end up where I want it, then I always have to edit the point position anyway because it never ends up in the right place.

are you talking about this gap?

if so, File> Settings> Dimensions> Sizes:

set Extension line offset to 0
