CUDA and OPTICX not available

Hello there. For some reason that I really can’t find, when I go raytracing, the only rendering device is the cpu. I can’t see the cuda or opticx. I have the nvidia 5060, and the intel 12700k. I also tried downloading the latest nvidia drivers (581.57) and then also clean installed the (577.00) and the (576.52). still nothing. Can anyone help me solve this please?

I am not sure why it is not being detected, but I have logged the issue: RH-90421 RTX 5060 not detected

Thank you for your responce. I guess now we wait…

Is the rhino 8 sr24 even compatible with the 5060 an the new nvidia drivers? Will my problem be fixed in sr25?

It should be working, I’m sure many many people are running a 5060.

I don’t know from first-hand, because I don’t have access to such hardware to test and investigate.

Well… I am not sure how, but the problem is fixed. At first i tried older nvidia studio driver versions like 577.00, but it didn’t work so I went back to the latest version. Then I also tried the unter-testing rhino version 8.26, but still nothing. There is when i uninstalled the rhino completely, and installed it again. Whenn it opened I could see for the first time the boxes cuda and opticx. Now everything runs quiter and smoother. The cpu is still 80-90% sometimes in raytracing (it was 98-105%), but now it renders much faster, with the gpu at 40,60,80%. I guess that’s the normal.

Thank you all, though!

That is indeed normal. The CPU is still being utilized to put the raytraced results into the viewport or render window, along with post effects being applied, which happens mostly on the CPU as well.

Hi Sofia,

had the same problem after updating my graphics-card driver. After starting Rhino it took ages to render in raytraced mode and it said: “cycles fallback to cpu kernels still compiling” in the viewport bottom. BUT I just waited. It took maybe 15minutes for Rhino to compile. Now it is working fine again every time I open up Rhino.

So basically all it took was to WAIT
