Hi David, You can run TestToggleContourV8 command for the time being to get back to the V7 contour behavior. We’re using contour as a prototype for some new multi-threaded work in V8 and what you are seeing is in our bugtracking system at https://mcneel.myjetbrains.com/youtrack/issue/RH-67157

I change the title with the hope this will get some attention. I have not seen similar behavior in previous versions so something change in V8 WIP.
