Constant crashing

Hi All,

My models keep crashing. I save my files on Icloud, it seems to happen much more regularly since I’ve been saving here, however, the person who I share my files with doesn’t have this problem anywhere near as often as me. We aren’t working on the models at the same time.

It doesn’t crash rhino fully - I get a loading screen like it’s searching for the file and have to close and reopen the model.

Does anyone else have this problem or could shed some light on how to solve?

I’m running a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 4 GB

Running Rhino 7 and updating regularly.

Thanks a lot in advance for any tips.

Violet

Hi Violet -

Does this also happen with files that are saved on the local disk?

Does that mean that opening the same file a second time - after having completely exited Rhino - tends to work without issues?

Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim

Hi,

Please see below for the system info.

It doesn’t happen noticeably with files saved on the local disk

This repeats, even if I leave rhino and reopen.

Thanks for your help

Hi Violet - do your models have a lot of textures, as used in rendering materials or Picture objects?

-Pascal

No, Just very simple models. No textures or renders

And, how’s your internet connection? Reliable, usually? Slow?

-Pascal

Pretty stable. But I guess it could be autosaving causing it if the connection is unstable?

Hi Violet - I am grasping at straws, really… but your comment about searching led me to wonder about textures, and the connection to the cloud…

-Pascal

Hi violet-

We would really like to reproduce this issue, if we can, hence all the questions.

It doesn’t happen noticeably with files saved on the local disk

Where, specifically, are the 3dm files you are having trouble with? What is the path to those files? For example, is it something like:

/Users/violet/Desktop/sketches graffitiworld.3dm?
or
/Users/violet/Documents/MyiCloudFiles/sketches graffitiworld.3dm?

Knowing the full-path might give us a clue when we attempt to reproduce this here.

In addition, can you please navigate to System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud Drive > Options… (button) and send screencapture(s) of this screen? For example, mine looks like this…

and, notably, Rhino is NOT in the list when I scroll-down. I presume you have Rhino in the list (which ought to be fine …but clearly something is amiss).

I’d like to get mine looking as much like yours as possible (again, we want to experience this bug).

Thanks,
-Dan
