Compound Curves to Revit Native Geometry

Hi friends,

I have this complex-shaped roof in Rhino and I am struggling to bring it into Revit as anything smarter and a mass or generic model. I know many threads on this, but none seem to work for this geometry.

I wonder if I’m having issues because this surface was created by Patch command. or the fact that this is an open surface?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rismail88,

I’ll take a look.

What are the goals for said Roof? What other features are you looking to produce (smarter than a mass or Generic Model)?

Thanks Japhy. I appreciate it.

Right now I can’t attach walls to the Revit Roof. Which I really need. I have to add walls from rhino to follow the shape of my roof.

Also in Rhino the roof is made from 7 simple curves. When it’s Revit, the roof is made from almost 50 small segments. So it’s hard to pick line. I can’t align my geometry to the curved sections. It’s really messing up my geometry.

Thank you,

Not a lot of options in this regard.

Creating a Void Family to manually cut the walls might be the best way.

I figured as much for the walls.

Is there any way to bring the roof into the Revit file? I’m now struggling to even make it a generic model or roof mass for whatever reason.

Thanks,

I didn’t have any issues with the geometry you posted.

One thing to check is to open a new file and Add Geometry DirectShape, this will provide the best error reporting on your Geometry.

Complex geometry into Revit is always going to run Revit’s ability to generate that shape (ideally without converting it to a mesh) as well as the tolerances. Rhino.Inside®.Revit
