Clipping plane viewport detail color issue

Hello,

Searching trough many posts about clipping planes and viewports behaviour, I did not found our specific issue. Which seems pretty basic, but lets give it a go.

Both in Rhino7 and Rhino8 we have the same issue, when we clip a solid and assign it to a viewport, the clipped object shows the color of the layer setting “color”-“detail color” in the viewport.

However, in some cases we want to change the color of this object to grey, so it does not stand out (i.e. secondary object). We expect by changing the “detail color” to grey, the complete object (i.e. object and solid) would turn grey, unfortunately only the object itself turns grey and not the fills created by the clipping plane.

Workflow:

  • clip a solid object
  • assign clipping plane to viewport (with displaymode shaded)
  • go to viewport and double click in the viewport
  • change “detail color” from its original color blue to grey
  • the object color changes in this viewport, others (if any) remains as per “color” setting
  • the fills color remains as per “color” setting

The color of the clipped solid does change when the “color” is changed, but we only want to apply a different color to this particular viewport.

All original colors:

Changed “detail color” from blue to grey, but the clipped plane (solid color) remains blue, however the object itself turned grey as expected:

Settings of the display color “shaded” are default:

Looking forward to your suggestions, thank you!
