Click results in Point osnap

During a command, if I click an arbitrary point on screen with the Point osnap active, Rhino creates a snapping point. This sucks because the starting point is intentionally unrelated to anything else in Rhino that registers as an osnap Point. The cursor movement also feels spazzier in Rhino 8 than previous versions.

How do I turn this off?

This is actually desired when creating a polyline (to close the polyline at the start point)

What would this option look like to you?

Also trying to think of other cases that this would be enabled/disabled.

Hi @Japhy
I’m having similar problems please look at my video posted in this thread.

Please let me know if there are any tweak settings I can do. I’d rather the line being drawn not leave the mouse cursor and stay on an osnap, it’s like ai taking control. Really makes drawing using the polyline command much more cumbersome. Notice in the video the line does not follow or stick to my cursor but sticks to any snap point instead.

Thanks and sorry to add to this thread but it seems like a similar problem mildly and I’m getting no response from McNeel.

It wouldn’t exist at all unless I were creating geometry like you describe, and if it were for polyline creation it should be an Endpoint anyway. There is no reason for Rhino to call an arbitrary click point in the viewport an osnap Point.

In the case of registering Points during a geometry creation command, I would make it less sensitive in rhino 8 because my cursor feels much stickier to these Points - contrived or not - than in previous versions.
