Capture layout view so it no longer changes with model?

I’m creating assembly instructions, I want the same iso view, same camera angle… 6 times, I don’t want 6 different models in the work space, I just want to move an item into position, capture the image… move the second part into position capture that 2nd image for step 2… so on. is this possible?

Thank you!

Try the snapshots command.

Thanks Japhy, I’m in layout and select an iso view i want to ‘snapshots’ then when I try it saves a nice top view from the workspace… hmm
I’ll keep exploring this. thank you.

Hi Ryan - it should work but you may want to make a detail active in the layout before saving the snapshot.

is there a way to place the snapshot in a layout? otherwise I take a shapshot and change the model for the next ‘step’ (in the directions I’m creating) then if I apply the snapshot I previously took it reverts the model to that original position. I need an image created that will no longer have any link to the model.

Hi Ryan -

We have that feature request on the list as RH-10770 Bake to PictureFrame
For the time being, you’d have to use, e.g., ViewCaptureToClipboard and paste that image on the layout. Using Make2D and placing the output on the layout would be the vector alternative.
