My WIP build has expired, but I still have Rhino open with my model, and I want to save it. However, I can’t save or copy anything.

I downloaded the new version of Rhino 9, but I still can’t save models that were open before the update.
You need to have a Rhino 8 license to run Rhino WIP. If you have a Rhino 8 license, please email us at tech@mcneel.com for further technical support. Thank you.
I have a license for version 8.
The problem resolved itself. I don’t know why, but save button started working, even though I didn’t do anything.

The solution was just to wait 
Would this happen if there was an auto-save function that creates an emergency file with a modified name consisting the latest version of the scene prior the expiration date?
In another thread years ago, I suggested to implement a huge countdown that shows up on the screen about one minute before the next auto-save, reminding the user to manually save or save small, thus avoiding the eventual slow auto saving that many users complained about (especially on a network).
