I own Rhino 7 and I was using and saving my files in WIP 8. Since the new version 8 now the WIP no longer works plus all of the files I saved using Rhino 8 WIP will not load at all. This is totally unprofessional and wrong. I can not even open these files. I need a fix soon.
No it’s not, people have been warning about this for a long time. Sorry if you missed it but it’s a known fact since the beginning of the WIP that V7 cannot open V8 files and you should have been prepared for the expiration of the WIP.
Download the 90 day evaluation of V8 and you will be able to open and save your files as V7.

Rhino 8 file does not open in Rhino 7,
and
Rhino 7 file does not open in Rhino 6
and
Rhino 6 file does not open in Rhino 5…
Many many other products (Word, Excel, AutoCAD) have worked this way for the better part of 40 years.
There are changes in the file format that do not allow an older product to open and recognize the new file format.
So please plan on saving back whenever using a WIP version of Rhino, before a WIP expires.
Now the Eval gives you 90 extra days to use Rhino 8. But in 90 days,when the eval will not save anymore, you may find yourself in the same situation.
Therefore, a couple days before the Eval is scheduled to expire, save back to Rhino 7.
Or buy the Rhino 8 upgrade.
