Can you Select Lights in Detail?

Hi,

Similar to how you may EnableClippingPlane in a Layout Detail… can you Enable a specific Light in a layout detail?

I have two Lights set up in my model and wish to have two perspective views of my Model on a Layout. I’d like to have 1 light switched on in one perspective, and the other switched on in the other perspective – showing two different lighting schemes…

Is this possible?

Hi Gabrielle -

That should work by putting the lights on different layers and turning off layers in the details but it appears that this is buggy at the moment - I’ve written this up as RH-65376 for a developer to take a closer look.
Thanks,

Okay, yeah I tried to do that too, but it didn’t seem to respond to that.
Thanks a lot!

Hi,
Has this been looked into/resolved?

Hello! I ran into this bug also. Details with certain layers with lights turned off still affect renderings with Cycles.

Hi Gabrielle -

Our bug tracking system is (mostly) open to the general public and you can follow any progress in those reports. RH-65376 currently shows this:

This might be a bit cryptic but it means that the issue has been resolved in Rhino 7.x and this will be announced when that becomes available as a public download. 7.x currently is 7.11 and a first release candidate should (if all goes right) become available on Tuesday / Wednesday.

Hi Eugen -

If you ask me, using the Raytraced display mode in a detail on a layout doesn’t work and I can only strongly advice against using it.

Ok. Yes, I noticed.

Oh great! Thank you for explaining this. Makes sense now.

Look forward to the new release!
Cheers
