Cable-Stayed Bridge in Grasshopper: Truss Deck & Cable Sizing

Hi everyone,
I’m working on my final university project and I want to design a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge and model it 100% in Grasshopper (0→100 parametric workflow). I’m currently stuck on the structural logic + realistic preliminary sizing, especially:

  • Truss deck modeling:
Should I model the deck truss as 2D (planar) or 3D space truss?
How do you decide the top/bottom chord sizes, web member sizes, and typical truss depth (as a starting point)?

  • Cable system + sizing:
I need a way to estimate number of stays, spacing, and cable diameters/areas based on realistic loads (self-weight + finishes + pedestrian live load).
I’m not trying to do full professional design, but I want numbers close to reality for a credible academic project.

  • Analysis tools in GH:
I’m planning to use Karamba3D / Kiwi3D / Kangaroo (or whatever you recommend).
If you know a good tutorial / example definition for a cable-stayed bridge in Grasshopper (even simplified), please share links/resources.

My goal is a realistic parametric model: deck truss + pylons + stay cables, with basic structural checks (forces, utilization, deflections) inside Grasshopper.

Thanks a lot in advance :folded_hands:
Any references, example GH files, or step-by-step guidance would really help.

GPT output is recognised quite easy now they are all the same😂

Just by looking at text structure i was thinking exactly the same and it seams to happen more often in this forum.

It sounds funny sometimes when you read it out loud
