I’m using the “Grit” bump map that comes with Rhino. Now it looks like the bump effect is broken when using cycles. The bump effect shows as expected when in rendered display mode. When I use either raytraced display mode or do a rendering, the bump effect is gone.
Rendered display mode:

I’m on RH8 SR18. I just looked through the changes for the SR19 release candidate but there doesn’t seem to be anything related to bump mapping.
Please help.

A known issue, and currently only work-aroundable by setting advanced settings BumpDistance and BumpStrengthFactor.
There are numerous posts about this on the forum, like this one Bump map not rendering in raytraced mode
Okay thanks, I wasn’t aware of that. The workaround did it. A value around 10 isn’t enough for my scene, 100 makes the bump appear for me.
Anyway, hope this won’t require a workaround soon.
EDIT:
correction, after trying a bit more, it looks like a value of 25 for both seems to be more appropriate for my scene. 100 is too much.

I won’t be attempting to fix this in 8 anymore, I’ve tried 3 times - due to conflicting data and the current setup I cannot reliably handle bumps.
