When moving an object using the Gumball arrows, there is a noticeable initial jerk or snap at the start of the movement. It looks as if the object “teleports” a short distance before transitioning into smooth dragging. This sudden jump breaks the fluidity of the interaction and feels unintentional.
hi @leex sounds like you have “Snappy dragging” enabled. With snappy dragging, the gumball will first align with the mouse cursor at the position it is at. If it is something else, pls run _SystemInfo in Rhino and post back the results.
Hi Gijs-
Ah, exactly! The “Snappy dragging” option was enabled – I wasn’t aware of this setting. Thanks so much!
By the way, do you know if it’s possible to enable those CPlane icons in Gumball (Rhino 8) like we had in Rhino 7? They used to appear when coordinate planes were active, making it super convenient to move objects along those axes. That was really helpful.
In Rhino 7, using these icons in the Gumball, it was possible to move objects simultaneously in two coordinate directions — for example, along the X and Y axes. In Rhino 8, using only the arrows for movement limits interaction to a single axis at a time, preventing simultaneous movement in two directions, which somewhat reduces workflow flexibility.
Huge thanks, guys! Turns out my Gumball was totally out of whack. I just hit Restore Defaults, and boom — back to normal. All good now!
