Bug fixes
Notes: This is the current work-in-progress release of Bongo 3.0 for Rhino. The product is in the very early stages of development and will probably change a great deal before release. This may include the file format, so please do not rely on Bongo 3.0 models working in the future. Bongo 3.0 will read Bongo 2.0 files, but will save Bongo 3.0 data only. This data cannot be read by Bongo 2.0, so please backup any files before using them in Bongo 3.0.
A lot has changed since Bongo 1.
For the Bongo 3 WIP the new big features are the Connections and Physics.
Hereās a few videos that was done earlier with the Bongo 3 WIP:
Iām looking forward to spending some time playing with Bongo 3ā¦ I hope it is more intuitive than Bongo 2. Even doing this simple bifold leaf door felt difficult.
The C++ SDK is still to be ported to the Rhino for Mac version and before that is done weāre not able to start the work. So at the moment weāre just focusing on the Windows version.
This looks very promising. While I remember Bongo 1.0 seeming unrealistic in how the movement of things was setup, and the frames being hundreds of still frames put together in a sequence to look like simulation, but felt very fake in doing so.
Iāve been dreaming of learning more about Kangaroo to give me realistic abilities to apply āconstraintsā to assemblies or even āsketchesā. But it would be nice if there were an easier and intuitively simple way for users to apply constraints to 3D workspace entities. More to learn on my end.
It has been a while since I had a project with active animation, if I recall correctly the link to Octane render was working a few years ago, I suppose that is still the case?
Is there an option to export FBX files with baked in animation?
Octane has at least worked with Bongo 2, but that doesnāt mean it will currently work with Bongo 3 WIP. It might work or it might not, unfortunately I donāt have a copy of Octane so Iām not able to test.
We broke the SDK for Bongo 3 in order to add the new features and that made it so that for example V-Ray currently is not compatible. So it depends on if Octane use the SDK or not. Once we get closer to release and freeze the SDK, the renderers can make their required changes, and it will start working again.
Currently Bongoās animation data isnāt attached to the Rhino FBX export, itās still on the Wishlist to be added.
