Bongo 3.0 WIP 21 Now Available

Hi all,

** PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS WORK IN PROGRESS SOFTWARE **

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Work-In-Progress versions are not production ready and may hang or crash.

Bongo 2.0 users are encouraged to download and try this WIP release of the animation plug-in for Rhino 8, Bongo 3.0.

Bongo 3.0 WIP 21 is now available from Rhino - Download - Bongo for Windows WIP

Rhino versions supported: Beta testing Bongo 3.0 is limited to Bongo 2.0 users. Bongo 3.0 requires a Bongo 2.0 license key. Latest version of Rhino 8 is required to install Bongo 3.0 and can be downloaded from:
Rhino 8 for Windows

Changes:

  • Added view animation on/off toggle to upper right corner of viewports
  • Faster Connections solving
  • Bug fixes

Notes: This is the current work-in-progress release of Bongo 3.0 for Rhino. The product is in the very early stages of development and will probably change a great deal before release. This may include the file format, so please do not rely on Bongo 3.0 models working in the future. Bongo 3.0 will read Bongo 2.0 files, but will save Bongo 3.0 data only. This data cannot be read by Bongo 2.0, so please backup any files before using them in Bongo 3.0.

Please note: Rhino 7 is no longer supported!

Can you run the TestDotNetMessages command then try loading the BongoEtoUI plugin again? The command line should spit out some information. If you can copy what it says here that’d help get to the bottom of this.

is there an upgrade option from Bongo 1.0, or do I just buy Bongo 2

I’m looking to upgrade a V7 chain to V8 and might throw Bongo in the cart :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Remember seeing amazing new stuff with new Bongo :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

If you have Bongo 1, you can by the upgrade to Bongo 2, no need to buy the full version.

I upgraded earlier.

Having a little trouble activating.

Going to have some brunch and try again later. :face_savoring_food:

Still having trouble…

Not sure what I should drag into V8 … :face_without_mouth:

trying the wip n see if that works brb

think i gots it :open_mouth: :upside_down_face:

That looks like Bongo 3 WIP loaded inside Rhino 8.
If you now want to use Bongo 2, you can go to C:\Program Files\Bongo 3.0 (64-bit) and run the BongoVersionSwitch as an admin, and chose Bongo 2.

Side note - if anyone has the problem of Bongo 2 not showing up in Rhino 8 after install.
Run the command _MigratePlugIns. In the Migrate Plug-ins Window make sure both Bongo Plug-ins are selected in the list and press ok.

Hello Gerard. It looks like you have Rhino running in .NET Framework mode. We have recently implemented a new version of the VideoTexture which uses Windows libraries which are not available in .NET Framework. For this reason we have stopped supporting .NET Framework.

Can you try running Rhino in .NET Core mode and see if that fixes the problem? Here are instructions: Rhino - .NET Core vs .NET Framework

Hi there,

it seems I’m having trouble finding the latest version of Bongo. When starting Rhino I get the usual message, that Bongo has expired. But installed is (was) the latest Bongo_30_Release_x64_English_20250830_3_0_65303.msi

I tried also to start V7 with Bongo 2 and 3, but Bongo won’t load.

Also I uninstalled Bongo entirely and reinstalled while making sure 2.0 is installed as latest version (Bongo_20_Release_x64_German_20190212_2_6_26922.msi)

Bongo WIP has not been reinstalled yet.

André,

Above, in Marika’s post, the link https://www.rhino3d.com/download/bongo/3/wip gives you the latest version Bongo_30_Release_x64_English_20260127_3_0_65327.msi.

It works fine for me in Rhino 8.

Luc
