does not resemble you one little bit, next time upload some real footage you old wannabe girl faker!

Don’t get so upset Ency, when the M1 Pro is out I’ll get one too. I’m sure it will be lovely.

And it’s always good for us to experience half-ass Rhino so we know how some of our clients/partners experience technology/performance. Maybe we can meet at the café with our same hypster laptops some day! The Geisha Pourover is on me!

iirc M1 has a throughput of 2.9tflops, which is definitely better than Intel’s Iris (as used in 13" intel pro mac, which has the perf of 1~ tflops?)

M1 has a throughput of 2.9tflops

that’s approximately the performance of a GTX 1650 on paper. for comparison, a 3070 is ~20 teraflops.
I was hoping the M1 to get 3.6 teraflops, but having less than that… not great, but terrible. /s

I’m curious what it means in real life scenarios, e.g. Affinity Photo is scary smooth on the 13" M1 MBP with files that my older 15" MBP struggles to even pan (a friend of mine has one, we compared “feelings”, no hard evidence here), maybe even smoother than my desktop computer. so jokes aside, I’m really looking forward to the 16" M1X, there could be a lot of use cases where it shines. but I have a feeling, that I will continue to use Rhino on my desktop, until the transition period settles.

which not to forget could take quite a bit longer for rhino …

I just posted an update to this topic:

with some good news on the horizon.

The title of this here topic - “No for now” - will be short-lived.

Great to see some swift movement by team McNeel :+1:, I invested in a 16" MBP 12 months ago, so won’t be switching just yet, but will keep a close watch on this rollout

…and another update. It’s probably time to either close this here topic or change the title. The “No for now” is now obsolete if you update to Rhino 7 for Mac on macOS Big Sur 11.3.

Working great for me! I made a short video on how it works on my MacBook Pro M1.

Thanks for this!

How does the Raytraced view perform on the M1?

cool video, good flow and speed. regarding context, one might expect to see you talking a bit more about how Rhino is actually performing under the M1 and a few words about it, showing where to download rhino etc is not helping at all imho.

I ran a Apple to Apple comparison and found the M1 MBP was 3x faster than the Intel based MBP I have here. Pretty cool! Of course ProRender on the Intel based MBP with an AMD card is still faster than CPU based only raytracing, I didn’t compare that however. I did render the same scene on an RTX 2080 with 3k Cuda cores on Rhino 7 for Windows and that was 20x faster than the M1 MBP  so it’s all relative.

@dan change the title of this post please, maybe “… Yes Now!”

Thanks. I get that but the point of the video was to show that it works. It was a Day 1 “It’s here!” and nothing more.

There could be further videos after more time to play with it.

I tried it just now but honestly I can’t say how it works versus other installs. I am ashamed to say I’ve never tried the Raytracing view, I don’t have much use for it.

“It works?” It seems @BrianJ has the better answer above

Looks like it’s done
