Alternate Logo

This stone human head always reminds me of “Super Mario Land” (1989) for Nintendo Game boy. “Nintendo” re-used the same art for another game on the system, but I don’t recall the title. These big stone statues actually exist in the real World, more specifically Moai of Easter Island.

I will take that response as a tribal “No”. Sad as that was the best skinned Rhino I found while searching over 1,500 images. He also confided to me, that he hated cats.

By the way, your forum name is Pelican, which is also an animal just like Rhino.

Tell me you are gen x or older without telling me you are gen x or older…

the original command for that icon I believe was “roadkill”.

If my fading memory serves me, I believe it was changed to smash somewhere around v3 - v4 cuz somebody whined about it being mean.

It’s all about stretching the geometry, so perhaps it was an overkill to call it roadkill. But the sense of humour that the developers show is commendable.

Your conversation with the AI image generator went well…It is however a very cold lifeless Image that feels like it is made out of fine white china. The accuracy of the creation is first class… but the red eyes don’t make it a friendly creature…I think it is more angry than drunk. That was very insightful of you to bring that to the attention of Rhino readers.
Here is a visual comparison:

That helped me to see why I like the middle Rhino … Its warm and still alive!

Less angry version…

Never thought the original logo looked like a rhino - don’t care.

I see the logo and think of the programme Rhino - job done - expensive rebrand uneccessary.

I only stopped by to make sure this sort of ridiculous suggestions have no chance to land around a product and community as sane as Rhino and people around it are. Calmly leaving now. Logos remain logos, art remains art, realism remains realism, and animals, hopefully, remain animals. Let’s not project the unnecessary onto the irrelevant.

Cheers. :christmas_tree:

:scream: Nooooooooooo! Please don’t! :folded_hands:

  1. The current official rhino logo is professional, already iconic, it communicates advanced surface modelling and the shape is dynamic and harmonic in the same time - as the product itself (and of course the community).

  2. Even if I am a cat owner I love the icon of the flattend cat (and the humour behind). For me it’s the same level as the „duplicate“ Grasshopper Icon (the horny rabbit icon) :heart_hands: ..Guy’s don’t be that serious with these kind of humouristic things. Don’t let’s start with discussions about sexism, culture appropriation and so on in context of Rhino symbols, logo etc..

It’s absolutely clear that nobody wants to kill a cat here.
