ALT + Gumball does not create a copy

My first post! In Rhino 7 (eval version) tapping the ALT key then using the arrows on the Gumball does not produce a copy. However, turning off the Gumball and tapping the ALT key then dragging does produce a copy. Am I missing something?

It takes a little technique…

  1. Select the object so the Gumball displays
  2. Drag the object a little
  3. Quickly Tap Alt (Option key for Mac), and the “+” will appear indicating a copy

Oh for…

“Quickly” tap. That was all I was doing wrong? This 61 year old musta been too slow. LOL. That worked great! Thank you!

Your avatar says McNeel. Do you work for them?

I’ve been here since 1988, long before Rhino.

you can also hold alt, then click and drag gumball and release the mouse. it will copy a surface and drop it where you stop dragging.

Fwiw, John is responsible for teaching decades of designers how to use Rhino… (including me.)

A lot of us owe long prosperous careers to him and his endless patience for answering questions…

For me, working with John kinda feels like getting to play basketball with Michael Jordan…sometimes meeting your heroes is actually kinda great…

I get it. I honestly do. I think it is because of him I have made my decision to purchase Rhino for my home woodshop!

To me, that’s a genuine “Thank you Lord!” moment!

Thanks again!
