After a while the main View menu stops working

After a while the main View menu stops working.

I can select a command and click on it but then nothing happens. It’s as if I hadn’t clicked it.

Sometimes I get one view change then I have to switch to the named views panel to select a different view.

Switching view types also fails. I can switch to one view type (for instance) wireframe then that’s my lot. I couldn’t switch back to shaded or pick a new view.

Those are the things I have noticed. I couldn’t say if any other menu is broken, or any other view commands. These are just the ones that I have noticed.

I am using: 8.1.23325.13001, 2023-11-21

Hello- please run the SystemInfo command in Rhino and Copy/Paste the results here.

Thanks - And if not on remote desktop - does it work as expected?

I will find out, though sometimes it can take a while to fall over, but it’s usually quick.

I had to go but when I came back I used the computer that I RDPed onto, but I used it directly with as monitor directly attached to it.

Took 2 minutes to get it to break.

But this app was opened via RDP a few hours ago, and the system info still says RDP, even though I am directly logged into the device and using a TV, directly attached via hdmi (well, technically display port).

I will close Rhino and try again, if system info still says RDP then I will restart the computer.

Anyway, here is the system info, as reported by this Rhino session (Does Rhino collect it at start-up?)

Left the computer on, just closed Rhino and restarted.

Got it to break, took about ten mins of messing around, toggling shaded mode, viewport by view menu and the named views menu.

System settings don’t mention RDP.

Hello- so is the upshot that the problem occurs when Remote Desktop is not invloved at all?

-Pascal

Yeh, system info says no RDP and I am at the computer now, no RDP.

I was playing around and noticed that:

  • the viewport tabs still switch viewports
  • the icons on the named views panel work
  • the main view menu, Undo View Change item works
  • the main view menu item, wireframe command worked once after stuff had been broken.
  • and I noticed that, somehow, the _Ellipse command had been invoked, somehow. There wasn’t a toolbar item visible for it that I could have accidently pressed. Are the wrong commands being emitted?!? Do you use lamdas, or command classes, or enums? Weird routing issues?

Hello- this certainly does not sound normal… if Rhino is still open, can you capture the command history (F2)?
