This is the bad guy right here - Parallels is not supported, and it seems 6.28 has made it unhappy. I would revert to 6.27 by downloading the latest installer from here:

https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino-for-windows/6/latest

Uninstall, reinstall 6.27.

Hi - Rhino 6.26 is here:
http://files.mcneel.com/dujour/exe/20200526/rhino_en-us_6.26.20147.06511.exe

Note that running an older version of Rhino means that you won’t have access to bug fixes that have been implemented in later versions.
-wim

And if those Rhino versions won’t run at all on the machine he wants to use he also won’t have access to the bug fixes - or anything else.

I’m having the same problem. I understand that Parallels is not supported by Rhino and that we’re SOL if it doesn’t work, but I was able to user Rhino perfectly with Parallels 3 or 4 days ago and now it’s completely unusable. Perhaps a sympathetic user community could put our collective heads together to figure out what the problem is.

Maybe it’s unsolvable going forward because of an update from Parallels or McNeel. I’d be interested in some help understanding why if anyone can point me in a good direction.

Here’s my SystemInfo copy:

One other note: I don’t have the issue in Safe Mode. Forgive my ignorance but what’s the difference, with respect to OpenGL and GPUs?

Hi - have you tried running Rhino 7?

As for

From the help file:
Safe Mode starts Rhino in safe mode without OpenGL or third-party plug-ins.
-wim

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks.

Hi - please do try Rhino 7! Some changes were made to have that work better with VMWare…
-wim

@Pascal @wim

Is it possible to revert to a previous SR without to loose custom toolbars and plugins?

Could it help if instead to uninstall and reinstall an old SR I would overwrite the Rhino directory with a backup?

Hi Micha -
Simply uninstalling and installing an older version of Rhino won’t overwrite plug-in and toolbar information. I do that all the time when checking for regressions.
(Of course, always always take backups of things that that you can’t afford to lose…).

Are you running Rhino on virtualization? Or do you have another reason to downgrade?
-wim

I think about what the reason could be for my system freezes. I’m not sure it’s Rhino, but I updated it the last days.

Rhino 7 looks great! So far so good. Thank you for the suggestion.
