Anyone here works or studied for “3d print technician” that can give some input on the profession or similar?
I recently applied for “yrkeshögskola” here in Sweden which translates to higher vocational education in english if that makes sense and they did a background check of my achievements, jobs, merits, Rhino portfolio etc… And say i can apply for it
Things are quite rough in the job market and I’m having ridiculous bad luck during job interviews dealing with clueless HR to “you don’t fit in the profile”, “AI interviews” and my all time favorite “we are looking for someone even more experienced even tho we put out an ad for a cnc operator and you fit in the profile” it’s wearing my patience thin with this constant cherry picking so I’m considering this route just to have something to do for 1 and a half years
I do quite a bit of 3d printing and there are a lot of skills to learn to do it well. Your modeling skills are 100% good enough to handle this job and you will learn quickly what works and what does not when sending a print job.
fwiw, shrinkwrap in rhino 8 will fix like 99% of any file fidelity issues you will run across.
In lieu of a modeling job, I’d grab this and learn all you can about that part of design.
Well, it will depend on the job description and what you actually have to do. If you are just going to be a “production tech” who gets files from a server, prints them and hands the finished parts over to someone else, it will be pretty boring. However if you are actually going to be able to interact with the clients, determine their needs, discuss designs, strategies etc., it could be pretty cool.
Other one is cnc technician with a 100% that i will enter but i don’t think I want to continue seeing how I’m being treated like an absolute circus clown as a machinist right now it’s not encouraging to continue
Id figure to ask the discourse since some of you work with similar stuff let me know if you guys find any more insightful information about it, thanks.
