2d offset edge of SubD for new faces

Hi, I would like to add new faces to my subD, like indicated by these yellow lines, like a 2D offset

how do I do this ?

Here are 2 ways to do it:

  1. Use the edge of the existing subd as the rail for a Sweep 1 Rail.
  2. (this is weirder) - extrude the edge of the subd up, then use Offset SubD with Solid=yes option, then delete anything you don’t want to keep.

There is certainly the need for a tool to do this directly, though.
