Subd extrude basics

Hi!

Still beginner in SubD. Couple of beginner problems.

  1. What is the easiest=fastest way to make these yellow surfaces?

I’d like to use Sweep one rail but it is annoying that I have to join the edges after that. I already used the edge, why there is not “join” in the sweep settings, like loft fe. has?

  1. What is the command / keyboard button I have to use to extrude new subd surface from edge? Now I use the gumball , but there are limited directions. And then I have to move it… Is it possible to extrude new surface from edge to direction you want? I used gumball dot but there I can only extrude to the gumball direction… I’d like to extrude edge to the line direction.

You also can type 3DFace in the command line of Rhino 7,

Create it? I don’t really see any need for sweeps or extrudes there - you can build that all with subd faces.
