Xmas Wish: Improve Patch

I wish there were something like Patch Crease so that I can keep the boundary edge in its exact location while ballooning up the surface.

You might be able to achieve that with helping geometry, by making a swept surface along the edge you want the crease to be, that has the desired angle. Then patch to the swept edge with tangency. Sometimes it can also be done by making a rough manual estimate and then using that as a starting surface.

that will only keep the continuity at least in the limits of the tools ability, but there is no control over a crease which is the question for when it accelerates and how much towards that continuity which is what a crease if for when i am not fully wrong.

the width of the boundary surface makes also no difference it seems, so in that regards there is no control.

I agree Patch matters because modeling quickly with continuity is important.

Not sure how Xnurbs works in Rhino but in SolidWorks’ ‘patch’ (surface fill) seem to outperform it in important situations like modeling half-a-cone with cardinal direction profiles.

If R8+ can do surface fill stuff without requiring closed loop, it would surpass awesome and be insane!
