X-Line for Rhino

Is there anyway to create something similar to the xline in AutoCAD? It would be very useful in 2D drafting (and maybe 3D as well, but I haven’t used them for that in the past) to have infinitely long lines for constructing drawings.

Thanks,
Jacob

Hi Jacob - in V5, SmartTrack does something, but probably not quite, like what you are asking, and V6 will have some more tools for this. (I say this without any experience with Xline, myself but it sounds about the same.)

Hi Team,

I’m bringing this topic back 11 years later. I would also love an X-Line one day for Rhino. In AutoCAD its a great way to make an “infinity line” and then we are prompted to choose a horizontal or vertical.

I saw there may be a way to do this on Python. But it would be amazing if it was included and help AutoCAD users transition!

Hi Naps -

Have you tried AddGuide?

Whoa thats really helpful! Its close to what I want. I wish it could stay there and act as a 'Line".

Is there such thing as an 'InfiniteLine"? I wish it would just stay there and not leave the view, and I’d like it to feel like a line.

Hi Naps -

We have that feature request on the list as RH-39959 Show/hide guides

Thank you Wim. You guys are all heroes.

I made this macro a few years ago for XL. Might help.
